News | Bobby Shmurda 2021 release date set

Another disappointment from 2020, Bobby Shmurda‘s early release has been denied. Originally set around mid-August, Shmurda’s parole hearing was pushed back by a month.

There were high hopes for the rapper’s release from his affiliates and those close to him — even his mother claimed that it would be his last birthday spent in jail — but the rapper will remain behind bars until he finishes serving his maximum seven-year sentence: December 2021.

“Following his Sept. 15, 2020, interview with the Board of Parole, Ackquille Pollard was denied release and given a hold until the maximum expiration of his sentence on December 11, 2021,” stated a spokesperson from the New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision.

According to sources, Bobby had over ten violations of drug possession, fighting and owning a weapon, among other offenses, while in jail — possible factors which may have led the parole board to reject Bobby’s early release.

Music | Lil Baby & Future “Out The Mud”

Lil Baby has dropped yet another collaborative track, this time with Future in the form of “Out The Mud.” The ambitious partnership follows Future’s interview from January with Big Boy, wherein the older rapper tagged Baby and Gunna two of hip-hop’s current GOATs. “I already did what I did. I done been the Trap GOAT. I’m solidified. But right now, they them dudes. They the next dudes to get the new deal, the new money, the new this, the new that,” he praised of the youngins. With flows that fuse almost perfectly above the Quay Global-produced beat, “Out The Mud” turns into the meeting and understanding of the trap’s different phases.

Tunes Tuesday | @AJTracey – LO(V/S)ER

Kick starting my new feature, Tunes Tuesday, with this new release from AJ Tracey. The music video, being shot in Cuba, keeps it authentic to the lyrics AJ Tracey is spitting.

Having scored a Top 20 with his summer anthem ‘Butterflies ft. Not3s’AJ Tracey switches lanes towards a harder rap sound on his new single ‘LO(V/S)ER’.

The West London rapper flexes the gritty flow he built his name off before the numbers came, with anticipation for a new project reaching fever pitch!

Music | Foreign Geechi – Pot of Gold [@foreigngeechi]

Residing in the epicentre of luxury and affluence Dubai resident Foreign Geechi digs up a diamond in the rough in ‘Pot of Gold’. Synonymously exuding an eclectic aura established by his diverse up-bringing and multi-genre sound, Foreign Geechi is a master of trades. His sonic diversity is a tribute to his Zambian roots, combined with the experience of living in the progressive city.

For his new single, ‘Pot of Gold’ melodically mirrors the conventions of trap music through his disjointed yet punchy flow. The weighty track is paired with cinematic visuals taking us on a destination through the stunning desert backdrops. Circulating within the depths of the exclusive Dubai music scene former member of SOS Music, Foreign Geechi has been grafting ever since.

Building a wealthy fanbase and an established reputation not only within SOS Music, who became known for the highly playlisted track ‘Abu Dabbin’ ft Ayo Beatz, which gained over 1.2 million views on YouTube, but also a solo act, Foreign Geechi has performed alongside international acts such as Wiz Khalifa and headlined with SOS Music at Abu Dhabi – ‘The Beats On The Beach’ festival amongst artists such as J Cole, Travis Scott, Big Sean, Krept & Konan and Enrique Iglesias.

Adhering to the mythology that there’s a ‘Pot Of Gold‘ at the end of the rainbow, Foreign Geechi delivers a treasure with his new single and with his forthcoming album ‘It Will Make Sense Later’ set for release at the end of the year, this is one rainbow that isn’t going to fade.

Music Video | YoMenza feat EazyMan – Tripple OG’s [ @yomenza ]

South London natives YoMenza & EazyMan have linked up to bring you a fresh U.K. street banger, “Tripple OGs”. The track it self, is solid, no mumble raps on this track, just the raw U.K. hip hop as we appreciate. The visuals for this track was filmed in our home town of Croydon, and the creative on this video is a release from all the same old videos with booty shaking and no story telling content.

Music Video | J Hus – Spirit [ @jhus ]

London based J Hus has enjoyed a continued flow of success with his music, and the working machine has no signs of slowing down. This week he released the visuals for his album based track “Spirit”. I’ve been playing this track in the clubs since the release, it has that noticeable “reggae swing” which the crowds are loving. Check the video out and be sure to check out more music from J Hus.

Music | The New Gorillaz album will feature…

One of the most anticipated albums of 2017 has to be the new offering from Gorillaz, and the latest update surrounding the release comes from Pos of De La Soul, who recently talked to The Guardian about collaborating on the still-untitled project. “We actually sat down with Damon two weeks ago and he played us some of the new Gorillaz album, and it sounds amazing,” said Pos. “He played us a track that he wants us to get off on his album so we got to get in the studio and put that down.” Additionally, Pos disclosed that Snoop Dogg will also make a guest appearance on what will be the fifth studio album from Gorillaz. Vic Mensa, composer Jean Michel-Jarre, songwriter Liam Bailey will also contribute.

A$AP Ferg ft Migos “Trap Anthem”

In honour of the weekly turn-up dubbed #WavyWednesdays by the A$AP Mog, A$AP Ferg and Migos take it to the trap for their new offering “Trap Anthem”.

Here, the ATL trio and the Harlem rep drop bars on their deep pockets and jet-setter lifestyle. Ferg has been pushing a steady supply of bangers ahead of his forthcoming Trap Lord follow-up including the cuts “Spice Girls”, the “Cut It” remix and “New Level” featuring Future.

Music | Dej Loaf “All Jokes Aside” mixtape

Since announcing her mainstream presence via the DDS-produced single “Try Me,” petite Detroit rapper Dej Loaf hasn’t slowed down. Today she dropped a second mixtape titled All Jokes Aside, a respectable follow up to her first effort, Sell Sole, which was released in 2014.

Where Sell Sole saw features from the likes of Young Thug, Birdman, Remy Ma and Ty Dolla $ign, All Jokes Aside is all about Dej, with the exception of a cameo from a blast from the No Limits era, Silkk the Shocker. And while we may have gotten used to synth-powered, sing-song vocals from lil’ Dej, this mixtape is a little different.

She describes it best on the track “Chase Mine,” stating, “Lately I’ve been on my rap shit / Had to stop singing for awhile.”

Music | Black Friday Mixtape Selection

As the retail world sent bargain savers and Christmas shoppers into a frenzy on Black Friday, November 27th, the hip hop fraternity of artists used this day, as the give back date to their fans by dropping multiple mix tapes for you to stream, and download for free via DatPiff.com. Some of the mixtapes I downloaded included

Chris Brown – Before the Party

Fabolous – Summertime Shootout

Rick Ross – Renzel Remixes

Lil Wayne – No Ceilings 2

Chris_Brown_Before_The_Party

Today is Cyber Monday, so it’s been a non-stop back to back listening fest with these 4 mixtapes, and I can say not one of them disappointed me. Chris Brown certainly leads the track numbers on his mix tape with 34 tracks, which in my opinion could have been split into 2 albums. Some of the features on his mixtape “Before the Party” include Rihanna, Fetty Wap, French Montana, Wiz Khalifa, and his homeboy Tyga as well. If you’re a true Chris Brown fan, and a lover of R&B, this is one for you.

Lil_Wayne_No_Ceilings_2

Between the other 3 mixtapes, well, we waited for Lil Wayne to drop “No Ceilings 2”, and in true Young Money quality control, Weezy F doesn’t disappoint, with various original tracks, and freesyles with his version of Hotline Bling aka Jail Phone.

Fabolous_Summertime_Shootout

Fabolous, what can I say, he is a beast, who has kept to his flow and formula, which is why I am true fan of his. “Summertime Shootout” I feel, should have been released in the summer, it’s one of those mixtapes, you have to bump loudly, with various flavours of tracks, including the upcoming club banger “The Plug”, and his version of Hotline Bling aka Trapline Bling.

Rick_Ross-Renzel_Remixes

I’ll wrap up with the biggest boss, Rick Ross’s “Renzel Remixes”. He has been delivering various freestyle remixes over the past few months, his biggest freestyle remix has to be of Adele’s “Hello”, if you haven’t yet listened to it, simply download his mixtape and put it on blast. This mixtape is 26 tracks, and is covered over 2 discs, so be sure to grab both downloads. All in all, I’ve enjoyed listening to all 4 mixtapes and will continue to for a while to come. I have to salute the other artists that dropped mixtapes on Black Friday, be sure to log onto Datpiff.com to see them all and download.

Music | Stormzy – Standard

So I wake up, check my instagram feed, and I see Stormzy has posted a picture of #standard trending world wide, so it was only right to see what #standard was about…….OH SHIT! Stormzy returns with another banger, obviously replying to anyone’s comments regarding his latest Mobo award wins, and clarifying to the world what is Standard, for him to do. The track is produced by the power team that is The Trackerz, and the my favourite line from this track for me has to be

“Man wanna talk about views on a fire in the booth, check my views on fire in the park”

If you don’t realise who he is sending for by this point in the track, then do like 100,000 people have done by this time of me posting this, listen again. I can see everyone Dabbing to this over the weekend!!!

Music | Hotline Bling x What Do You Mean mashup

Both Justin Bieber and Drake are having huge moments on the charts with their songs “What Do You Mean?” and “Hotline Blingrespectively. While it’s expected that any big song will get one too many covers, it’s much less common to see two huge songs mashed up and re-imagined like this. Capitalizing on the popularity of both tracks, singer/songwriter Brayton Bowman created a song he calls “Justin’s Hotline.” Although it borrows lyrics from both “Hotline Bling” and “What Do You Mean?,” it’s a whole new take on both songs. His up-tempo crooning is underscored by a funky, original beat, elevating the source material into something totally his own. Stream the song below.

Music | Krept & Konan – Freak of the Week

Krept & Konan – New Single – ‘Freak Of The Week’ (feat. Jeremih)
Release Date: 28th June 2015

Pre-iTunes Link – http://po.st/LWHiTdlx

After their recent hard-hitting collaboration ‘Certified’ with Rick Ross racking up a BBC 1Xtra A List and over 300,000 views online, KREPT & KONAN have recruited yet more international players in DJ Mustard and Jeremih for their new single ‘Freak of the Week’ to bring another transatlantic slice of their signature hip hop to the charts. Sampling the Playground Riddim from the legendary ‘Who I Am’, ‘Freak of the Week’ is inspired by dancehall Godfather Beenie Man.

Destined to dominate the airwaves and become the soundtrack of the party circuit this summer, ‘Freak of the Week’ is a force to be reckoned with, guaranteed to reign supreme taking
KREPT & KONAN into the realms of global success. With some of the duo’s hottest lines inked over a heavy bassline, the new single offers a second taste of what is to come from their hugely anticipated debut album.

KREPT & KONAN stand as forerunners in their scene commanding a huge fan base that pushed their last mixtape into the top 20 – the highest ranking unsigned release in British chart history. Their album, ‘The Long Way Home’ sees a collection of artists so rarely seen on a debut record, from the hottest property in UK Grime at the moment Skepta to Grammy nominated Ed Sheeran, Wiz Khalifa and YG to name a few.

This summer will also see the duo hitting festival stages around the world including Glastonbury and Wireless for a second time after a rammed set at last year’s festival.

Music | Drake “If You’re Reading This, it’s Too Late”

Shout to Drake for breaking the internet straight after Kanye’s Adidas launch, not many celebs, or artists would be able to that without dropping some “leaked” nudes. But the talent that is Canada’s top export Drake did what most artists in the lifetime could never do, drop a “mixtape” via iTunes, on Friday 13th and create a buzz that required no marketing budget at all, simples, Drake’s legion of loyal fans spread the word by reposting the mixtape cover on all forms of social media, which saw the mixtape end up in the iTunes top 10 by lunchtime here in the UK.
16 tracks with 1 interlude is what you be getting for your £11.99. Fair to say from the start, it’s certainly a OVO production, with the beats sounding very unique to that OVO flow, add Drake’s lyrics and vocals over them, and this is a mixtape that will not be deleted from your iPhone for a long time. The mixtape includes  some previously heard tracks such as 6 God & Used To feat Lil Wayne. Featured artists in this mixtape also include PARTYNEXTDOOR &  Travis Scott.
drake
Tracks such as Madonna, Energy, Preach, 6 Man, You & the 6, and Know Yourself is a BANGER, love the switch it up style Drake has mastered. are certainly stand out tracks for me, but that is not to say that other tracks get skipped, because they don’t. So the question that everyone has asked me..”is it worth the money?” I’d say yes, especially if your not trying to listen to the same old with every album in your iPhone, this certainly delivers a diversity in sound and creativity that seems to only come to life with such artists as Drake, Kanye, Jay Z, Nicki Minaj, Kendrick Lemar, you seeing the pattern here.

Video | Drake – Hold On

Drake finally dropped the video for the single “Hold On, We’re Going Home”, from his future classic album NWTS. The video is based in 1985, and plays like movie, with Drake taking the lead, and his team have to rescue his kidnapped girlfriend from his competition. It’s good to see another video from the current hip hop community that isn’t a cliche video, but the theatrics of this video are not to be taken too serious, it’s a music video people not real life.
